UBF Scholarship Award Requirements

Applicants Must Meet All General Criteria Requirements Listed below:

  • Enrolled in at least 12 units at either a two or four year community college or university in the united states;
  • If not college, enrolled in a vocational or trade school in the United States;
  • A minimum cumulative 2.5 grade point average (GPA) must be
    maintained. (NOTE: College students must submit an official college
    transcript and two reference letters. High school graduates must submit
    an official high school transcript with class rank posted and two
    reference letters);
  • Must submit a 1500 word essay on one of the following topics:

  1. Gender Discrimination
  2. Mass Incarceration
  3. Housing Discrimination
  4. The Impact of Racism in America’s School System
  5. A Social Movement (e.g., the Free Alabama Movement, CiviI Rights’ Black Power Movement
  6. Hip Hop
  7. Big Government
  8. War.
