A Queen, Two Kings & A Vision

August 20, 2020

David McDaniel, Catherine Perkins and Kenneth Roebuck are just amazing people! And we want you to know just how they have been there for our founder in building this organization. That said, we’re excited to announce they have entered into our board of directors training program to become official board members. Let’s give them a shot out!

For the past two years David and Ivan were incarcerated at Solano State Prison in Vacaville, California. The first week they met they clashed. David threw all Ivan’s books in front of his cell door and told him, “I ain’t fu@king with you!” Long story short, they talked and from that day forth David supported every self-help group and political workshop Ivan taught in prison.

Here’s the kicker: David had a 165 years to life sentence! Fortunately, his wrongful conviction was recently overturned and he’s now back on the streets. Soon as he touched down, he contacted the organization and asked what he could do to help?

Now Catherine where do we start? She’s Big Sis to the organization’s founder. She always tells Ivan when he’s wrong or right and has done everything she can to assist with building the UBFSF. She and Ivan have this understanding that’s so deep when it comes to respecting each other’s space and building the community! She da sh*t! And got L.A. on lock! We love you sis.

Kenneth, he’s a long time friend. Ivan and he have over 30 years friendship invested. So it was a no brainer when Ivan found out about the wonderful work he is doing sponsoring and coaching AAU basketball for at-risk youth that he called on him to join the board so, together, they could further this cause.

Two Kings and a Queen… we congratulate and thank all of you for supporting this vision.
