R.E.B.U.I.L.D.: Community Reinvestment Program

R.E.B.U.I.L.D.

Program Projected Launch Date: 01/21

Program Summary:

Our program R.E.B.U.I.L.D. “Reinvests in Every Black and Underserved Institution to Liberate and Diversify” with the mission to “rebuild the community from within the community.” R.E.B.U.I.L.D. is designed specifically to provide alternative paths in neighborhoods with high incarceration rates to youth and their parents to develop, equip, connect and utilize human and social capital in the restoration of their neighborhood while building skills to keep them out of the prison pipeline.

We address the issues of affordable housing while teaching underserved youth community value through refurbishing properties and providing them invaluable insight and experience in real estate development. We plan to acquire bulk homes that are Real Estate Owned, bank-owned, and through donation, that will be refurbished and sold back to the community at a rate significantly below the market.

All profits will be reinvested into the program and the community through grants and scholarships. In order to assist in stable homeownership, we are committed to providing social support, financial literacy, mentorship, and connections to members of the community in which we work.

Our success will be measured by the number of clients obtaining and retaining a home; the percentage increase in homeownership rates in the communities we serve; the decrease in loan defaults in that area; the overall appearance of the neighborhood; and the number of mentorship connections established among community members.

Years of discriminatory housing practices created communities entrenched with poverty and a gross lack of resources. R.E.B.U.I.L.D. aims to revive these neighborhoods and give them the tools they need to thrive.

In our efforts to address these issues, the UBF is currently getting underway plans to launch our R.E.B.U.I.L.D. in 2021. Ultimately, the program aims to provide an opportunity for underserved youth to gain invaluable insight and experience in real estate development.

Here, we look to provide an A-to-Z (on-the-job) experiences that includes, but is not limited to, commercial and residential property management, development and demolition, financing, and brokerage.
