Transform Communities Through Resource Development

The Resource Development Internship at the United Black Family Scholarship Foundation (UBFSF) offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit development, donor engagement, and fundraising strategies. As part of our Resource Development Committee, student volunteers will actively contribute to our mission to “Rebuild Communities from Within.”

This internship provides practical training and real-world application in resource development, empowering participants to excel in nonprofit management and make a lasting impact.

Program Overview | Responsibilities

This is a volunteer position open to three to six students across the country.

Key Responsibilities:

As part of a team, you will:

  • Conduct prospect research to identify potential donors and funding opportunities.
  • Update donor and prospect profiles for UBFSF programs.
  • Provide administrative support related to fundraising activities.
  • Draft compelling communications for donor outreach.
  • Develop grant proposals and coordinate fundraising events (virtual and in-person).

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

Experience: Preferred background in nonprofits, fundraising, or social justice organizations.

  • Skills:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Strong internet research and project management abilities.
    • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Attributes:
    • Self-motivated and proactive.
    • Organized and detail-oriented.
    • Capable of multitasking and managing multiple projects.
